Egypt Bulletin

The 25thJanuary 2011 Egyptian revolution took place following a popular uprising due to legal and political issues; uncontrollable corruption, unjust elections, high unemployment and low wages, just to name a few of the demands by the Egyptian people. The uprising was mainly a campaign of non-violent civil resistance, including demonstrations, marches and labour strikes. However violent clashes between security forces and protestors resulted in over 840 people killed and 6,000 injured. Millions of protesters demanded the overthrow of the regime of the previous Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. On 11thFebruary 2011, following 18 days of determined protest and pressure, Mubarak resigned from office.

With the striking events taking place, we were keen on following news updates at all times to monitor the results of this uprising. Such events were not covered by Egyptian news sources only, but international news sources were also playing a major role covering the foreign public opinion.
